Rescue Me ID: 14-11-03-00593Joey (male)

Bulldog Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Most Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Joey was born about January 4, 2014 and will probably top out in the 50 lb. range. This guy is major cuteness!! He is good in the car, just wonderful with other dogs and does fine with cats. Joey is one major cuddler and willingly shows you his tummy. This amazing little boy came to us because he was showing some fearful behavior and the humans admitted they didn't know how to handle it. Well, he came to the right place because we deal with fear issues all the time and what you don't ever want to do is coddle (talk sweetly, give treats, or say good boy, it's ok) the negative behavior because the dog will think you enjoy what he is doing ... (Read More)in the moment so to please you they will increase the exact behavior that you don't want. In a matter of a week little, chunky, Joey has make tremendous strides to normalcy and he is ready for a foster home that will continue to work with him. Now we just need a forever home to come alone that will pick up where we left off. At times when he is fearful he will growl and that is just not to be tolerated and surely not coddled. With the strides he has made in such a short amount of time we are guessing he could become a Canine Good Citizen dog before long. I'm saying no little kids at time just to the commotion and noise and feel he would be more comfortable in a calmer environment and he'd LOVE another dog!!! (Less)

Bulldog Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults

Kane is a two-year-old bulldog mix. He's good with kids and most dogs and he's very playful. He has a tendency to become very attached and protective of his family and his home. When meeting new people inside of the house, it's best that the environment is calm and relaxed, and he needs some time to become used to new people within the house. If interested in fostering or possible adoption, please call or text Kathryn at 347-925-6370. There's no adoption fee and transportation is available.

Animal ID: A1017392Max (male)

Bulldog Mix    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

A volunteer writes: An imposing presence in his kennel, Max is a gorgeous boy who clearly has some boxer in his ancestry. His square face, and even his body shape indicates some recent lineage. Tall, handsome and good looking, Max is most interested in exploring our pen, sniffing all the good smells left by all the day's activity. He paces a bit, unsure of his new temporary home and relieves himself copiously and often, taking every advantage of his time outside. He comes when I call him, and although I invite him to join me on the bench, he chooses instead to lean into my legs for petting. He's a bit aloof at first, like the shy kid in ... (Read More)school, wanting to be friends but not sure how to initiate the interaction, and when the overture is made not sure how to accept it. The more time we spend together the more he loosens up and comes over for petting, his tail beginning to wag. His step as he circles our pen is elegant and high, like a graceful Lipizzaner stallion. I left him alone and went inside to get his kennel ready for the night and when I returned he was waiting quietly and welcomed me back with a happy tail wag. Max has participated in some play groups, and while he can be a bit pushy does well in general. When we returned to his kennel he greeted the kenneled dogs we passed with a soft waggy greeting and hopped back into his own kennel easily. (Less)
