Rescue Me ID: 14-09-18-00500Diesel (male)

Bulldog Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Most Cats
Personality: Low Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Arthritis

This big, handsome Bulldog mix was dumped at a county shelter by his previous family. Diesel was underweight, his nails were overgrown, and he had a horrible skin infection when we rescued him from that shelter several months ago. A round of antibiotics and several medicated baths later, his skin has cleared up tremendously and he has gained 7 pounds so he now weighs in at 97 pounds! Diesel was also diagnosed with a thyroid problem which requires daily medication for life. He has arthritis too so he needs glucosamine to help with the pain and inflammation. Because of these conditions, Diesel is considered special needs. His special ... (Read More)needs include bi-weekly baths using medicated shampoo, daily thyroid medicine, daily pain medicine/supplements, and special food. Diesel recently had surgery to remove and biopsy a skin tumor, which was benign! :-) Please don't let all this scare you away, because Diesel is the coolest dog ever! This big handsome boy is guaranteed to put a smile on your face! This big boy is not only snuggly, he's smart too! Diesel knows commands such as speak, sit, lay down, and shake. He is also crate trained and completely house trained. He will scratch or bark at the door when he needs to go out. Diesel doesn't seem to mind cats but he tends to be selective with his doggie friends. We think Diesel needs to be only dog so he can be the center of attention! We prefer no small children just because of his size. His size combined with his ability to 'talk' might scare a small child. Diesel must have a home with a fenced in yard and you must be able to provide financially for his special needs. Bully experience is a must. Please email us at if you are interested in giving Diesel the forever home he deserves. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-07-09-00726Dixierose (female)

Bulldog Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Dixierose was saved from a rural shelter where she was going to be euthanized due to being there over the allowed time period. It would have been a terrible loss for this amazing girl to die. She is one of the most intelligent, loving girls I have ever met. She has learned sit, wait, come, and to walk like a lady on a leash. She has absolutely no aggression issues and is housebroken. She is crate trained as well. Dixie will make a great addition to any family. A fenced yard is not a requirement as she has absolutely no difficulty climbing over a fence, although she will not do so if you are in the yard with her. She must be kept on a ... (Read More)leash when walked for her safety. If you are looking for a loyal, loving companion email me. Not only is she beautiful with the most amazing amber colored eyes but she is a total sweetheart. EMAIL: (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Bulldog in Kentucky
Bulldogs can make good pets in Kentucky if they match your IifestyIe. The English Bulldog is a stocky breed with an intimidating appearance, but is one of the gentlest types of dogs. However, the Bulldog does have excellent guarding instincts. Bulldogs love human attention. Some bulldogs have a dominant streak and need a master who is firm and exudes leadership. Bulldogs do well with children and make great family pets. Bulldogs can live in an apartment but need a daily walk. Energy levels of Bulldogs vary widely but the breed is relatively inactive indoors. Bulldogs are prone to health problems and tend to slobber profusely.
