Rescue Me ID: 16-12-03-00412Watson (male)

Bulldog    Age: Adult

Watson is a sweet and loving 5-6 year old Old English Bulldog. He was originally an owner surrender to DDFL, adopted to a family who loved him, but just wasn't the right fit, and he's now in a loving foster home. He's good with other dogs, and cats. He is a complete couch potato and getting on furniture is a must with this one! He LOVES pillows and will nestle down in them given the opportunity. He was originally quite overweight, but is now slim and trim at around 50lbs. He enjoys going on walks and walks nicely on a harness. He loves meeting new people and hes the best car passenger co-pilot. Recently he's been moved around quite a bit, ... (Read More)and would really love to settle down in a forever home. He is a typical bully and is stubborn, but responds well to boundaries set, listens well and is very food motivated. He will try to do every trick in the book for a treat! His idea home would be someone that is familiar with the breed, allows dogs on the couch, and is willing to provide him with some proper training, which he just hasn't ever had. He's not a big fan of this cold weather, but with a buddy will happily go outside. He likes toys, and nylabones to chew. Who can turn down this sweet face! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-05-10-00138Honey (female)

Bulldog Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Sweet, sweet Honey. I am so in love with this girl... Honey is available through Summit Dog Rescue. The typical adoption fee is $395, but Honey has an anonymous sponsor in Arkansas (where she's from) who has donated $100 of that. In terms of temperament, she LOVES people. She would follow me around and snuggle 24/7, if she could. She also loves playing with other dogs, going for walks, and going to work with her person! She can very occasionally bristle (for lack of a better word) at times, but that's common with rescue dogs (as I'm sure you know). Here's her story: Months and months ago, Honey was found as a stray, very emaciated and ... (Read More)she had obviously just had puppies, though they weren't with her. She wandered into a couple's yard, and they kept her there for a few days. One day, she started barking a lot, which was unusual for her, so they went to check on her. It turns out that an elderly gentleman had wandered away from his retirement home on his scooter, into the open area behind their house, and had accidentally overturned his scooter. It was a very hot day, and he had passed out. The couple credited Honey with 'rescuing' him, and decided to do everything they could to help her. She's happy, sweet, and learning new things every day. At her foster home, she's amongst other dogs and does great. We do feed her separately, since she currently guards food with a little rumble of a growl (which isn't uncommon for dogs who've experienced a scarcity of food). Patient training can definitely alleviate that behavior. She LOVES to play with our puppy and also loves to cuddle up with us. She's one of those dogs who will give you a gentle nudge if she wants you to pet her. She's gorgeous, sweet, and playful. She's gone to work with my husband at his office a few times, and just wanders around saying hi to everyone and wagging. She would love a patient home with people who will give her training, tons of attention (rubbing and petting), positive associations, and set-ups for success. (Less)

However, the Bulldog does have excellent guarding instincts. Bulldogs love human attention. Some bulldogs have a dominant streak and need a master who is firm and exudes leadership. Bulldogs do well with children and make great family pets. Bulldogs can live in an apartment but need a daily walk. Energy levels of Bulldogs vary widely but the breed is relatively inactive indoors. Bulldogs are prone to health problems and tend to slobber profusely.
