Was taken in as favor to babysit but was not wanted by owner. Have kept for a few months, but unable to keep permanently. He is less than a year old, probably @10 mths. Was told he was Catahoula, but looks like some bulldog mixed in. Has turned from bluish to black/gray. Is very good with other dog (Shih tzu) & cat in household and a few of the other dogs in neighborhood. Very loving with me, but not with strangers. Friends have to be introduced with my acceptance before he accepts them. Very protective of house & yard. Current situation is not enough space/time for him to expend energy & thrive -small home, small yard, & too much alone ... (Read More)time during day. (Sleeps inside at nite.) Would be great with good family to protect & play with and lots of room to run. (Less)

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Vaccinations Current

What a beautiful bullie girl! Ziva has been fostered since she first arrived at the shelter and is receiving training and socialization. 'Pit bull mixes':Pit bull mixes get a bad rap. First of all, the American Pit bull is different from other bull dog breeds and yet they are typically lumped together. Many are actually American bulldogs, American Staffordshire terriers, boxer mixes, etc. And what percentage of pit bull traits gets a dog declared to be pit bull over whatever other breed he might be mixed with? But more importantly, the pit bull is more typically sweet natured and mellow (despite requiring regular exercise) when trained and ... (Read More)handled correctly. Please do not be turned off if a dog that appeals to you is labeled 'pit bull mix'. Come meet it. You will probably be pleasantly surprised and may consider adopting one of the most difficult dogs to find a home for, due to no fault of its own. Please read completely: FOR INFORMATION ON THIS ANIMAL PLEASE CONTACT 256-883-3783. BE SURE TO HAVE ID# READY. Animals at this shelter are held a reasonable amount of time so at the time of posting it is adoptable and not in immediate danger. However, the time period is limited depending upon the shelter population. If you are interested in adopting me: 1) Write down my Animal ID # . 2) Make sure to mention Animal ID # when visiting or calling. 3) Remember all adoptions stop 30 minutes prior to closing time. 3) You will not be allowed to place a hold on me. 4) I cannot be shipped to you. 5) Before adopting me, you can spend time with me outside or in a meet and greet room. Please ask for assistance. 6) We take cash, checks, debit cards, VISA and Mastercard as a method of payment. **IMPORTANT: Huntsville Animal Services cannot guarantee that I will still be available for adoption as we do not hold animals for anyone under any circumstances. Animals are adopted on a first come, first serve basis. You may want to call and ask if I am still available prior to visiting the shelter. When you adopt me, I will stay at the shelter and be taken to the veterinarian of your choice where I will be spayed or neutered before going to my new home. If I am already spayed or neutered, I can go home with you upon adoption. My adoption cost is very affordable and includes my adoption fee, spay/neuter, vaccinations, deworming, license (if you live within Huntsville city limits), a collar and personalized ID tag. Please know that a high percentage of animals in the shelter are brought in as strays. It is impossible to know anything about a stray animal and many times we can only make our best educated guess on breeds, age, etc. Every animal you see posted here has passed a general temperament test as performed by shelter staff and it is considered to be non-aggressive. ADOPTION FEES Dogs: $83 - includes spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, rabies voucher, deworming, *heart worm and flea/tick prevention Cats: $73 - includes spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, feline aids/leukemia testing, rabies voucher, deworming, *heart worm and flea/tick prevention LICENSE FEES $10 - 1 year license $35 - Lifetime license EVERY ADOPTER RESIDING IN THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, AL WILL BE REQUIRED TO PURCHASE ONE OF THE ABOVE LICENSE OPTIONS AT TIME OF ADOPTION OPTIONAL SERVICES $10 - Heartworm test. Lol, he is very sweet we don't know how he is with kids, he is in a kennel with another make dog , right now, they get along fine, he does bark at all the other dogs he is very dominant! Probably because he is so short and small! Very feisty! Probably be better as an only dog! Please adopt our little who's your daddy, he was a stray and we have too many strays, we have to start finding homes, for the dogs we have 29 . Can't keep them all!
